The Walking Bus Project in Kent operates as part of the ‘New Ways to School Initiative' led by Kent County Council. The project is a Kent-wide service which offers parents a way of getting their children to school safely without the use of a car. It also helps improve children's health, saves parents' time and reduces traffic congestion and pollution.

Denne were the first company to sign up to the Walking Bus Project as a major sponsor and have been supporting the Kent based charity for the last 3 years providing over £30,000 in support. Denne have also recently announced their continued support for the next 3 years.

There is currently over 65 Walking Buses taking more than 1,500 children to school each day in Kent. In 2006 more than 70,000 car journeys had been taken off Kent streets as a direct result of the daily activities of the county's 60+ Walking Buses.

This successful project has also received national recognition having been awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, and the Champions Award in the Community and Charity section of the National Green Apple Awards.
