Graham Brown, Managing Director
In 1986 Graham was given the opportunity to lead Denne Construction. He introduced a fully collaborative approach to working with both clients and trade contractors. This collaborative ethos combined with expertise in Design & Build enabled Denne to grow from a £4m contractor to its current size of £100m in annual production. His skills include:
Graham continues to lead on the development of major new projects. This has included work on innovative forms of funding, cross subsidy schemes, joint ventures and the winning of PFI projects such as the Stanhope Regeneration and Kent Better Homes Active Lives PFI's. Graham is also committed to engaging with the communities in which we operate. He has been influential in involving Denne with initiatives such as The Kent and Medway Walking Bus and the establishment of an accredited Construction National Skills Academy.
Nick Brown, Construction Director
Nick, who joined Denne in January 2004 as Construction Director is responsible for the delivery of all of the company's construction works including Production, Health & Safety and Customer Care. Through his experience and knowledge he also provides construction management input for pre contract works. As part of Nick's role, he is specifically responsible for the delivery of Denne Construction's two current PFI schemes. He has also been responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of 11 Care Homes which Denne have completed in the last 4 years, the most recent of which is the Miramar development for Signature Senior Living. During his career, Nick has developed a comprehensive understanding of key industry topics such as sustainability and modern methods of construction. This knowledge proved to be a major contributory factor in Denne's successful appointment for the One Brighton, New England Quarter, the first zero carbon One Planet Living development in the UK.
The organisation went from strength to strength and was made up of as many as eight separate limited companies including Mechancial, Maintenance, Joinery and Heating & Plumbing retail businesses. Les was involved in all financial areas of these businesses, controlling and advising where necessary. Ensuring at all times that the basic accounting and administrative functions were in place across all companies, as well as taking a wider view with regard to the development and growth of the business. Les was appointed a Director of the Denne Group of Companies in 1990, although he had been fulfilling this role for several years previously. Since the incorporation of Denne Construction into the Leadbitter Group, he has focused his experience and accounting skills solely in construction and has played a major part in the very successful integration of the Denne Construction business into the overall Leadbitter and Heijmans Group. Les has been involved in the successful delivery to financial close of two of the largest recent PFI projects in the SE of England. Steve Earle, Commercial Director
Steve joined Denne in 2008 as Commercial Director, accountable to the Managing Director for all post-contract commercial activity. He offers Denne a wealth of experience in the South-East construction market, which he has gained in a contracting environment with companies such as Costain, Wates Construction and Carillion. Directors
Graham is a construction graduate and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Builders. He began his career with John Laing Construction within their articled training programme. Following several years of construction site management, Graham specialised in estimating, construction economics and Design & Build.
Nick has worked in the building industry for 30 years, and has extensive engineering and construction management experience. He is professionally qualified as a Chartered Engineer and as a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Institute of Management.
Les joined Denne in 1971 as a Trainee Accountant and has been central to the development of the Company for a period of 36 years. After obtaining an HNC in Business Studies, Les became heavily involved in the management of Denne from an early stage.
