The purpose of the Sustainable Construction Plan is to provide a single document that sets out the actions that will be taken on site to support sustainable construction delivery.
The Sustainable Construction Plan is developed to reflect site specific issues and opportunities, and the aspirations of the client and the local community. It is organised around the 10 principles of One Planet Living*. Each principle is supported by high level objectives as set out below.

Zero Carbon - Strategy for reducing energy use on site and utilising green energy sources.

Zero Waste - Implementation of a Site Waste Management Plan including waste minimisation strategies with supply chain companies.

Sustainable Transport - Development of a green travel plan for transportation of people and materials to and from site.

Local and Sustainable Materials - Materials procurement strategy supporting reclaimed and certified materials, local suppliers, reducing transport emissions, and effective logistics arrangements for deliveries and material handling.

Local and Sustainable Foods - Canteen facilities to support local produce and free trade goods where practical.

Sustainable Water - Low flow water appliances on site, water harvesting for site and vehicle cleaning, usage monitoring, best practice with regard to preventing surface and ground water pollution.

Natural Habitats and Wildlife - Plans for reducing the impact on local wildlife and supporting biodiversity.

Culture and Heritage - Development of links between project and local schools.

Equity and Fair Trade - Provision of training and job opportunities for local people and supporting diversity in recruitment.

Health and Happiness - Respect for People agenda including site welfare facilities and Health and safety measures. This will include implementation of the Considerate Constructors Scheme with an aim of achieving a score of 33 or above.
